Lights on the Rossio
The programme opened on 5 December at 5 pm with the switching-on of the lights in Praça da República.

Viseu City Council has not yet announced the 2026/27 programme. Below is what the 2025/26 edition offered, from 5 December to 6 January. We will update this page when the new programme is out.

Christmas market
Wooden huts on the Rossio with crafts and sweets. On Rua Direita, empty shops filled with chocolate, cheese, bread and Dão wines.
Mercado 2 de Maio
Father Christmas's house and a bigger ice rink on the first floor, with workshops, theatre and magic.
Christmas tourist train
It left from Praça da República on Fridays, weekends and public holidays, through the lit-up streets.
Concerts
The council's Christmas concert at the Multiusos on 20 December. The New Year and Epiphany concert at Teatro Viriato on 3 January.
In the parishes
Choirs in «Cantando o Natal» and a new nativity scene in every parish for the «Rota dos Presépios» competition.
Viseu XMAS RUN
A charity run and walk of Father Christmases through the city on 21 December.
Getting to the Rossio
Urban Circuits C1 and C2 stop at the Rossio. From the Rossio you can walk to Mercado 2 de Maio.
